Leeds United have played out a goalless draw with Arsenal at Elland Road in the Premier League this evening.
The West Yorkshire club had lost their last two league games 4-1 and were looking to bounce back and return to winning ways.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side played well and had a number of chances, but they simply could not find the back of the Gunners’ net.
Leeds were also denied by the frame of the Arsenal goal a number of times, as it seemed that everything went against them.
The Whites also played with a one-man advantage for most of the second half after Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe was dismissed in the 51st minute.
Noel Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and he has given his take on the final result for Leeds.
Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds at full time (6:25pm, November 22, 2020): “I look at it now as two points dropped, I really do.
“I think before the game, when I look at the two squads, I do think that a point would have been good just to get that base to go onto the next games, but now when I have seen the game played out the way it has done, especially in the second half, end of the first half, chances that we had, and the fact that we rattled the crossbar three, four times now, yeah, it was there for us today.”
Disappointing result
A draw against Champions League hopefuls Arsenal is not exactly a bad result, but Leeds will feel that they should have picked up all three points from the encounter given the number of chances they had and the number of times they hit the woodwork.
