Leeds United lost to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in the Championship this afternoon.
Leeds United’s disappointing run of form continued this afternoon, as they lost 2-1 to Sheffield United away from home at Bramall Lane.
Billy Sharp scored both the goals for the home team in the Championship game, first after just two minutes and then the second from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga found the net for Leeds in the second minute of injury time.
The performance of Leeds in the first half was far from impressive, but the visiting team did step up in the second half.
The match was also new head coach Paul Heckingbottom’s first game in charge of the Whites.
Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan was following the game, and he told BBC Radio Leeds at full time about the Whites’ performance (2:27pm, Saturday, February 10, 2018): “We did see a little bit more fight in the second half, a little bit more quality, a little bit more structure to our play, but there’s a lot there for the manager to get his teeth into.”
Over the course of the 90 minutes at Bramall Lane on Saturday afternoon, visitors Leeds had 54% of the possession, took 14 shots of which three were on target, and earned five corners, according to BBC Sport.
The defeat to the Blades this afternoon has further dented Leeds’s chances and hopes of finishing in the top six of the Championship this season.
