Leeds United have been knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers.

QPR have got the better of Leeds 2-1 at home in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Aramide Oteh put Rangers in the lead from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute, only for Aapo Halme to restore parity for the West Yorkshire outfit on 25 minutes.

Jake Bidwell found the net for QPR on 75 minutes to guide the London club to the next round of the FA Cup.

Noel Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and he has given his take on the defeat for the Whites.

Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds at full time on Sunday afternoon (3:53pm, January 6, 2019): “We had chances. If we had taken them, then it would have been a bit different in the second half, I think. They came out and started the better of the two sides. But look, If you can’t defend properly, if you cannot defend set-pieces, you are not going to win any game, and we have seen it.”

The loss to QPR was Leeds’s third in a row in all competitions following defeats to Nottingham Forest and Hull City in the Championship.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are struggling at the moment, and it is important that the Whites bounce back.

Leeds will return to action on Friday evening when they take on Derby County at Elland Road in the Championship.
