Noel Whelan has given his take on Leeds United’s failure to win against Aston Villa this evening on BBC Radio Leeds (7:23pm, February 27, 2021).

Leeds have suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Villa at Elland Road in the Premier League.

Anwar El Ghazi’s goal after just five minutes proved to be the difference between the Whites and the Villans.

Former Leeds striker Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and he has given his take on the final result.

Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds (7:23pm, February 27, 2021): “There was not enough quality there today. We had one chance, Raphinha, that sums our performance up today. Not really at it.”

Match Stats

Over the course of the 90 minutes at Elland Road on Saturday evening, hosts Leeds had 70% of the possession, took 13 shots of which three were on target, and earned seven corners, according to BBC Sport.

Visitors Villa had 30% of the possession, took nine shots of which four were on target, and earned five corners, according to BBC Sport.

The result means that Villa are eighth in the Premier League table with 39 points from 24 matches, six points behind fourth-placed West Ham United, who have played 26 games.

As for Leeds, they are now 10th in the standings with 35 points from 26 matches.
