Leeds United have suffered their second successive defeat in the Premier League this afternoon.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side went down 4-1 to Leicester City at Elland Road in the league on Monday evening.

The Whites were aiming to bounce back against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park this afternoon, but they slumped to a 4-1 loss in London.

Noel Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and the former Leeds striker has given his take on the final result.

Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds at full time (4:52pm, November 7, 2020): “It was there, but I think a little bit more know-how, little bit more experience, mistakes again cost us, I will be honest, and, we go back again, if VAR had given us that goal, it would have been a different story. Well, we don’t know.”

The BBC Radio Leeds pundit added: “I just felt we lost the game with mistakes again.”

While Palace were the better team over the course of the 90 minutes, there was a key incident in the first half that could have changed how the game panned out.

The Eagles were leading 1-0 at the time, and Patrick Bamford thought that he had scored to make it 1-1.

However, the former Chelsea and Nottingham Forest striker’s goal was ruled out for offside.

It was a very debatable decision, as Bamford’s arm was over the line as he was pointing to Mateusz Klich where to pass him the ball to score.

Leeds chairman Andrea Radrizzani has reacted to the decision on Twitter using just one emoji, while former Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage has strongly criticised it.
