Leeds United have suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road in the Premier League.
The West Yorkshire club headed into the match against Wolves on the back of a 1-1 draw with Manchester City at home in the league.
The Whites have been playing well this season, and Marcelo Bielsa’s side will have fancied their chances of picking up all three points.
However, it was visiting team Wolves who won the match, with Raul Jimenez’s shot on goal being headed into his own net by Kalvin Phillips.
Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and he has given his take on the final result.
Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds at full time (9:55pm, October 19, 2020): “It’s a game Leeds United didn’t deserve to lose, but that’s the nature of the business, unfortunately, that’s the Premier League.
“Really impressed by performances tonight, team, collective, individuals as well. It’s a horrible, horrible way to lose a game.”
Meanwhile, Gary Lineker has given him take on Twitter on the disallowed goal for Wolves in the match.
In the 54th minute, Romain Saiss scored a wonderful goal, but VAR ruled it out, adjudging that Daniel Podence was in an offside position, as reported by BBC Sport.
