Noel Whelan has suggested to BBC Radio Leeds that Felix Wiedwald played well for Leeds United against Barnsley last weekend.

Wiedwald featured for Leeds in the Championship game against Barnsley away from home at Oakwell last Saturday afternoon.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as the Whites won 2-0.

Former Leeds striker Whelan was following the game, and he has suggested that Wiedwald did well against Barnsley when he called into action.

The 42-year-old told BBC Radio Leeds about Wiedwald: “When he was called upon, in his set-piece area, in his box, his punches were spot on, and that one shot save was exceptional.”

Wiedwald did not have much to do against Barnsley, but when he was called into action, he did not disappoint.

The former Germany Under-20 international goalkeeper has made mistakes for the Whites this season following his move from Werder Bremen in the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old should take heart from his performance against Barnsley last week, and he will hope to retain his place in the Leeds starting lineup for the foreseeable future.

Leeds are aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.
