Leeds United won against Rotherham United at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday.
The former Leeds striker was impressed to see that Jansson did not hog the limelight after the Whites’ win against Rotherham United at home.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side got the better of Rotherham 2-0 at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Jansson did not start the match, but the Sweden international central defender came on as a substitute in the first minute of injury time.
After the win, a section of the Leeds fans started to chant the 27-year-old’s name. Instead of hogging the limelight, Jansson simply acknowledged them and then walked down the tunnel.
Former Leeds striker Whelan has praised the Swede for his action, and said on BBC Radio Leeds on Saturday afternoon (16:55, August 18, 2018): “I applaud him for that.
“I applaud him for that because he has come on for a couple of minutes, it’s not all about that, it’s about what you do on the football pitch and how you play. He is letting the players enjoy that themselves and take that round of applause.”

Jansson returned late for pre-season training as he was involved at the 2018 World Cup in Russia with Sweden.
The defender is one of the best in his position in the Championship, and the 27-year-old will be important in Leeds’s quest for promotion this season.
Jansson initially joined Leeds on loan from Italian side Torino in the summer of 2016 before making the move permanent in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Yorkshire Evening Post to be worth £3.5 million.
