Leeds United have returned to winning ways in the Championship with a 2-0 victory over Barnsley away from home at Oakwell.
The Whites headed into the two-week international break on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Swansea City at Elland Road in the Championship.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side did not slip up in the Yorkshire derby on Sunday afternoon, as they got the better of their hosts 2-0.
Eddie Nketiah, signed on loan from Arsenal in the summer transfer window, broke the deadline in the 84th minute after coming on as a substitute in the 70th minute, and just minutes later Mateusz Klich made it 2-0 from the penalty spot.
The result means that Leeds are now at the top of the Championship table with 16 points from seven matches, level on points with second-placed Swansea City.
Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and he believes that Nketiah made the difference in the game.
Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds at full time (2:27pm, Sunday, September 15, 2019) when asked if Nketiah was the difference in the match: “Yes, you have got to say it is because he was. Getting the goal, getting the assist, as he was brought down for the penalty.
“He is a different kind of player from Patrick, that’s the problem, and Patrick didn’t do anything wrong.
“He didn’t have that much to feed off, but Eddie, that’s what you want. You want someone to come off the bench and make an impact, and he certainly did that.”
