Noel Whelan has suggested to BBC Sport that he was impressed with the performance of Leeds United midfielder Eunan O’Kane against Norwich City at the weekend.

O’Kane featured for Leeds in the Championship game against Norwich at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

The 26-year-old midfielder started the match and played for 82 minutes, as the West Yorkshire outfit played out a 3-3 draw with the Canaries.

Former Leeds striker Whelan was following the game, and he was impressed with the performance of the Republic of Ireland international.

“O’Kane brought what you’d expect from him: that little bit of extra nous,” Whelan told BBC Sport. “He was calm on the ball, and the desire to go back to his own goal line at times to clear – that was impressive.”

O’Kane joined Leeds from Premier League club Bournemouth in the summer of 2016 and has proved to be a good signing for the Whites.

The Republic of Ireland international has featured in 22 Championship matches for the Whites so far this season, creating 13 chances in the process.

Leeds are seventh in the Championship table at the moment with 74 points from 45 matches, three points behind sixth-placed Fulham.

The Whites will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Wigan Athletic away from home at the DW Stadium in the league.
