Leeds suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Wigan at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The defeat to the Latics saw the Whites slip down to third in the league table, but they are level on points with second-placed and Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United.
Former Leeds striker Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and he made a rather worrying observation about the players’ body language after the defeat.
Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds: “I think from when I looked at the Leeds United players, slanting their knees, their body language afterwards, yeah, they felt it there as well.”

Bouncing back
Leeds have been inconsistent in recent weeks, but Bielsa’s side have shown time and time again this campaign that they can bounce back and recover quickly from disappointing results.
The Whites will take on Brentford away from home in the Championship on Monday evening, and Leeds fans will expect the players to rise to the occasion and pick up all three points from the match.
