Leeds United’s Pierre-Michel Lasogga is due to become a father imminently.
Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds, Noel Whelan has joked that he hopes the birth of Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s baby does not come until December, adding that he will only get better and better for Leeds United.
The 25-year-old striker instantly endeared himself to the Leeds faithful by scoring twice in the 5-0 victory over Burton Albion last week.
Lasogga, who joined on loan from Hamburg last month, jetted home to Germany after that one for the imminent birth of his child, but his wife has still not given birth and the big man has since started the Whites’ games with Birmingham City and Millwall.
Perhaps he had more pressing issues on his mind, however, as Lasogga failed to score in either of United’s last two games, but Whelan says he is only operating at 70% for now.
When it was put to him on BBC Radio Leeds that Lasogga’s baby has not arrived, Whelan said: “Brilliant, good. I hope it’s really, really late, December time maybe.
“It’s great to have him there. From what we’ve seen of him in the two games, scored two goals and two assists with that as well.
“He’ll get stronger, fitter, more confident with every game. I still think he’s only at around 70%. He’s only just finding his feet and he’ll get better and better for Leeds.”
The Whites went on to lose 1-0 at Millwall in their first defeat of the season in any competition.
