Leeds travel to Villa Park on Friday night in their latest Championship encounter.

Paul Heckingbottom, Manager of Leeds United looks on prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Fulham and Leeds United at Craven Cottage on April 3, 2018 in London, England.

Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan has issued a battle cry to Elland Road fans on Twitter as the Whites face a difficult trip to the Midlands to face promotion-chasing Aston Villa.

Paul Heckingbottom remains under huge pressure as Leeds fail to shake off a dismal run of form that has seen them win just twice in their last 19 outings.

Steve Bruce, Manager of Aston Villa looks on prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Aston Villa and Cardiff City at Villa Park on April 10, 2018 in Birmingham, England.

In front of the television cameras, Leeds will come up against a free-flowing, in-form side that remain in the hunt for automatic promotion with Steve Bruce at the helm on Friday night.

But Whelan, an Elland Road favourite due to his work at BBC Radio Leeds, has looked to rally the troops on Twitter by posting a message to fans ahead of the match.

Pontus Jansson is Leeds’ latest casualty after he suffered a head injury in the Whites’ 3-1 defeat to Preston on Tuesday night, and he joins missing defenders Luke Ayling, Laurens De Bock, Conor Shaughnessy and Liam Cooper.

Midfielders Eunan O’Kane and Adam Forshaw are also sidelined, while January recruit Tyler Roberts is yet to make his debut at the club due to an ankle problem. Gaetano Berardi is suspended until the end of the season.
