Leeds United’s Ronaldo Vieira celebrates after the match

Noel Whelan has suggested to BBC Sport that he was impressed with the performance of Ronaldo Vieira for Leeds United against Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon.

Vieira featured for Leeds in the Championship game against Burton away from home at the Pirelli Stadium.

The 18-year-old defensive midfielder started the matches and played for the entire 90 minutes, as the Whites lost 2-1.

Former Leeds striker Whelan was following the match, and he was impressed with the performance of Vieira.

“Vieira is brave, strong, wins the ball in key areas,” Whelan told BBC Sport. “He’s so mature for his age and relieves so much pressure for Leeds because he’s not afraid to be on the ball.”

Over the course of the 90 minutes at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday afternoon, hosts Burton had just 36% of the possession, took 11 shots of which three were on target, and earned six corners, according to BBC Sport.

Visitors Leeds had 64% of the possession, took 10 shots of which two were on target, and earned eight corners, according to BBC Sport.

Leeds are seventh in the Championship tablet the moment with 73 points from 44 matches, just three points behind sixth-placed Fulham.
