Leeds United are going strong in the Championship at the moment.

Noel Whelan has said on BBC Radio Leeds that Leeds United need to make three new signings in the January transfer window.

The former Leeds striker believes that Marcelo Bielsa’s side should sign a striker, a creative midfielder and a central defender next month.

Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds: “I still want another striker, another creative midfield player and another centre-half to keep the good defensive record that we have had so far.”

Sensible suggestions?

With Samuel Saiz set to leave Leeds for Getafe on loan in the January transfer window, the Championship club do need to replace the Spanish attacking midfielder.

Saiz may not have been at his best in recent weeks, but the 27-year-old is very creative and he will be missed.

However, Leeds do not need a nw striker. Kemar Roofe is banging in the goals for fun, while Patrick Bamford is fit again and Tyler Roberts is also able to chip in.

The Whites, though, could do with a central defender, given the injuries they have had, with even midfielder Kalvin Phillips having had to put in a shift at the back.

The problem is that Leeds may not have a quality central defender in the January transfer window or will have to pay a lot of money.

Leeds are second in the Championship table at the moment with 45 points from 22 matches, just two points behind leaders Norwich City, who have played 23 games.
