Noel Whelan says Leeds United players – and substitutes – are fighting for one another.

Noel Whelan has praised Leeds United for the ‘togetherness’ that they showed in Saturday’s 3-0 demolition at Norwich City.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side thumped the Canaries at Carrow Road to move back to the top of the Championship, ahead of Middlesbrough – who go to Elland Road on Friday – on goal difference.
It was another electric but industrious display by the Whites who won their individual battles all afternoon.
Whelan says that the way in which the Leeds bench protected Kalvin Phillips after a Norwich man angrily confronted him following a tough tackle epitomised the fight that the West Yorkshire side have for one another.
He told BBC Radio Leeds: “I’m going to pick out one word you said and it’s ‘togetherness’ and there was definitely that here today.
“Kalvin Phillips down here the left-hand side and the substitute for Norwich City was coming towards him, pushing people out of the way and he was surrounded by Leeds substitutes and players.
“It’s not just that it’s on the field. If one goes in for a tackle then there’s two or three. They won every battle out there today and that’s what I love to see from a Leeds United side.”
The Whites have won four of their five Championship games – a 2-2 draw at Swansea City last Tuesday the only blemish – and simply put, maintaining this kind of form until May will result in Premier League promotion.
There will, however, be a number of bumps along the way and dealing with them will dictate how ready United are for the Premier League. But as Whelan said, they’re already fighting for one another and that’s a massive quality.
