Would Stuart Dallas start for Leeds United against Burnley in the EFL Cup after coming on as a substitute against Millwall in the Championship at the weekend?
Championship club Leeds will take on Premier League outfit Burnley at Turf Moor in the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.
Former Leeds striker Whelan expects Dallas to start against the Clarets, and has also praised the winger’s impact against Millwall.
The 26-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, did not start the Championship match against the Lions on Saturday afternoon.
The Northern Ireland international winger came on as a substitute at The Den at the break and played well during the second 45 minutes.
Whelan has praised the impact Dallas made against Millwall and expects him to start the EFL Cup tie against Burnley at Turf Moor on Tuesday evening.
“Dallas, I thought, he was excellent when he came on, I thought he was one of the better substitutions,” Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds during their post-match coverage of Leeds’s defeat to Millwall on Saturday evening (5:32pm, September 16, 2017) about Dallas.
“I would be very surprised if he does not start on Tuesday night against Burnley,” added Whelan about Dallas.
Dallas joined Leeds from Championship rivals Brentford in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £1.3 million.
The Northern Ireland international joined Leeds when Use Rosler was the first-team head coach and worked with him at Brentford.
