Leeds United winger Jack Clarke came off the bench in win over Reading.
Jack Clarke played his longest stint in Leeds United’s first team last night when he got 45 minutes against Reading.
He was a half-time substitute for Ezgjan Alioski, and he did more than the Macedonian international.
Clarke had fans on their feet with his lively display, and he impressed former Leeds striker Noel Whelan.
Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds that the 18-year-old reminded him of star man Pablo Hernandez.
He told the station’s post-game coverage: “He was excellent, his positioning, he’s quick, and he’s intelligent.
“His movement like is like Pablo, he’s clearly learning from watching him.”
Last night Clarke was playing alongside Hernandez and put in a case to get more first team chances.
He seemed to be flagging at the end of the game, showing he still needs to get used to the intensity of first team football.
This could prevent him from being used as a starter and see him continue as an impact substitute.
The signs are still promising that Leeds have a gem on their hands, and if he can start making the sort of impact which Pablo Hernandez does, then it bodes well for the club’s future.
