Noel Whelan has told BBC Radio Leeds that Leeds United duo Samuel Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski gave the ball away cheaply during the first half of the Championship game against Queens Park Rangers at the weekend.

Leeds returned to winning ways last Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 success over QPR away from home at Loftus Road in the Championship.

Attacking midfielder Saiz, 26, started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes, while 25-year-old winger Alioski was substituted in the 70th minute.

Kemar Roofe was the star of the show for Leeds, as the attacker scored a hat-trick for the visiting team, with all of his three goals coming in the second half.

Former Leeds striker Whelan, who now works as a pundit for BBC Radio Leeds, was not impressed with the way Saiz and Alioski were giving the ball away in the first 45 minutes against QPR.

Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds: “Saiz, it is hard to say, was letting us down in the first 45 minutes. Certain balls, giving the ball away cheaply. Alioski was guilty of it as well.”

Leeds did not play too well against QPR in the first half, but the way they stepped up their game in the second period was very encouraging.

No one can doubt that the West Yorkshire outfit deservedly picked up all three points from the match in London.

The Whites will now be looking to put together a run of positive results in the Championship and return into the playoff spots.
