Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in signing Liam Bridcutt from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Noel Whelan gave his opinion on speculation surrounding the future of Leeds United midfielder Liam Bridcutt on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (6pm, August 18, 2017).

Earlier this week, The Nottingham Post reported of Nottingham Forest’s interest in signing Bridcutt from Championship rivals Leeds in the summer transfer window.

Leeds head coach Thomas Christiansen subsequently responded to the speculation and was quoted as saying by The Yorkshire Evening Post: “I have spoken to him and I believe in him. He is a captain for me, even if he is not in the team.”

The Daily Mail has now reported that 28-year-old defensive midfielder Bridutt is in talks with Forest.

Former Leeds striker Whelan gave his opinion on speculation on the future of the ex-Chelsea prospect, and said on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (6pm, August 18, 2017): “Well, you know, clubs only sniff around if people are available as well.

“He has not played that much under Thomas Christiansen. It seems like other people are ahead of him in the pecking order.”

Bridcutt has fallen down the pecking order at Leeds this season and is struggling for playing time.

Although the 28-year-old is a good defensive midfielder, the Whites are looking strong in that department and would not miss him if he leaves.

The former Sunderland midfielder would be wise to move to Forest, who are aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.

Mark Warburton is a good manager, and Bridcutt would thrive playing under the former Rangers boss at the City Ground.
