Patrick Bamford scored twice for Leeds United against West Bromwich Albion at Elland Road in the Championship last week.

Noel Whelan has praised Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford on BBC Radio Leeds following his performance against West Bromwich Albion last week.

Bamford, signed from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018, scored twice for Leeds in their 4-0 hammering of West Brom at Elland Road in the Championship last Friday evening.

The 25-year-old former Nottingham Forest forward has made five starts and seven substitute appearances in the Championship for the Whites so far this season, scoring five goals and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.

The former Chelsea prospect has suffered with injury problems this season, but the forward is now fit and is playing regularly for head coach Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Former Leeds striker Whelan was impressed with the performance of Bamford against West Brom, and believes that he is getting his match-sharpness back.

Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds after the match against West Brom: “He said it after Bolton when I interviewed him and after he got that penalty.

“He said he still needed games, he still needed to get match-sharpened, get to the quality that he knows he has got.

“I think tonight it showed that he is not that far away from it. He really isn’t. Those two goals are going to do him a world of good coming into Bristol City away from home.”

Encouraging for Leeds United

Bamford is a very good forward who has done well in the Championship, and the 25-year-old will be important for Leeds in their quest to win automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds are second in the Championship table at the moment with 67 points from 35 matches, just two points behind leaders Norwich City.
