Leeds United have won just one game without Pablo Hernandez this season.
Noel Whelan has told BBC Radio Leeds that Leeds United are missing Pablo Hernandez.
The Spanish maestro has missed the Whites’ last five Championship games with a hamstring injury.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have won only one of those five – a 3-0 drubbing of Preston – and most recently drew 1-1 with Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night.
The 33-year-old, who has three goals and two assists in five league games this season, has Premier League and La Liga experience with Swansea City and Valencia, as well as four caps for Spain.
And Whelan reckons that the West Yorkshire side are badly missing their playmaker, who was originally ruled out for five weeks toward the end of August.
“Hernandez is Premier League quality. He can change games,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.
“The only frustration for him at times is that a lot of people are a step behind him. They are not on the same wave-length because he thinks so quickly and he wants the players to be up with him the way he thinks. That’s why he’s played in the Premier League.”
Leeds, who have lost one of their 10 Championship games this season, sit second in the table ahead of tomorrow’s night clash with Hull City.
Even without Hernandez, United, who registered 25 attempts at goal against Wednesday last time around, probably have enough quality to get past the Tigers, but time will tell whether it shows this time.
