Leeds United could have rivalled Derby County in the race for Cameron Jerome.
Noel Whelan claims that he has been left baffled over why Leeds United have not moved for Cameron Jerome.
Derby County have signed Jerome from Norwich City for £1.5 million, Sky Sports have reported, with the Canaries cashing in on the striker.
Leeds are known to be on the hunt for a forward, and Whelan feels that Jerome would have made a good addition to Thomas Christiansen’s squad.
Jerome has struggled at Norwich this term, and he has scored just one goal in 15 appearances.
The 31-year-old has previously been one of the stand out marksmen in the Championship though, and has a proven record at this level.
Jerome does have a rather checkered history with the Leeds supporters, though, which may have put the Whites off making a move.
Jerome criticised Leeds supporters on Twitter, after an on-pitch dispute with Giuseppe Bellusci back in 2015.
Leeds currently have Pierre Michel Lasogga, Jay Roy Grot and Kemar Roofe competing for a place up-front in Christiansen’s side.
