Leeds United have maintained their good start to the season with a 1-1 draw with Manchester City at Elland Road.
The Whites went behind in the Premier League game after 17 minutes when Raheem Sterling scored for the visiting team.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side restored parity on 59 minutes when summer signing Rodrigo found the net.
It was a very entertaining and box-to-box game in which both City and Leeds had chances to add to the scoreline.
Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and he was impressed with the display produced by the West Yorkshire club.
Bielsa’s former interpreter Salim Lamrani has also revelled in the display produced by Leeds tonight.
Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds at full time (7:24pm, October 3, 2020): “Fantastic. Like I said, 30 minutes into the first half, we were excellent all the way through to the 93rd minute, with everything that we had expected to see, a fantastic game, two brilliant sides on the ball, hard work off the ball, but the way we took the game to Manchester City, they know that they have been in a game today, and they are probably happy they have got a point today.”
Encouraging for Leeds United
Leeds have made a strong start to their first Premier League campaign since 2004.
After narrowly losing 4-3 to Liverpool at Anfield in their opening fixture, the Whites defeated Fulham 4-3 at Elland Road and won 1-0 against Sheffield United on the road, and now they have drawn with Pep Guardiola’s City.
Leeds played some brilliant football against City and gave the former Premier League champions a game to remember.
