Leeds United have bounced back from their defeat to Stoke City in the Championship last weekend.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Stoke away from home at the bet365 Stadium in the league last weekend.

The performance of the West Yorkshire outfit against Stoke was disappointing, and Leeds fans will have expected the team to return to winning ways against Rotherham.

True, Rotherham were at home for the match against Leeds this afternoon, but they are fighting for survival in the Championship and the Whites have a very strong team.

However, as it turned out, Leeds did manage to pick up all three points from their trip to the AESSEAL New York Stadium, courtesy of a 2-1 win.

Semi Ajayi put Rotherham in the lead after 28 minutes, and Mateusz Klich restored parity for Leeds on 51 minutes.

ROTHERHAM, ENGLAND - JANUARY 26:

The 28-year-old Poland international midfielder scored the winner for the visiting team in the 86th minute.

Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan was following the match, and he has given his take on the performance of Bielsa’s side, who remain at the top of the Championship table with 57 points from 29 matches, three points clear of second-placed Norwich City.

Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds at full time on Saturday afternoon (4:56pm): “It wasn’t an easy game absolutely. In the first half, we weren’t even at the races. The tempo was slow, the passing was slow and sloppy. We needed that 15 minutes to get inside and really have that chat with the manager.

“When you step your game up, you have that little bit more quality, little bit more belief, little bit more intensity, little bit more attacking presence and directness, and you come out with wins like this.. It was never going to be an easy game.”

Meanwhile, former Leeds goalkeeper Nigel Martyn has taken to Twitter to revel in the win for the Whites.
