Noel Whelan praised Leeds United youngster Jack Clarke on BBC Radio Leeds this past Saturday afternoon (2:42pm, October 6, 2018) for his performance against Brentford.

Clarke, who is a very versatile footballer and can operate as a forward, winger or striker, was in action for Leeds against Brentford at Elland Road in the Championship this past Saturday afternoon.

The 17-year-old came on as a substitute in the 70th minute and played well, as Marcelo Bielsa’s side played out a 1-1 draw with the Bees.

It was also Clarke’s debut for the Whites, and former Leeds striker Whelan was impressed with the performance of the teenager on the right wing, describing his display as “excellent”.

Whelan said about Clarke on BBC Radio Leeds this past Saturday afternoon (2:42pm, October 6, 2018): “I thought Jack Clarke had an excellent debut when he came on.”

Leeds head coach Bielsa has also given his opinion on how Clarke performed in his first outing for the first team.

Bielsa told Leeds Live about Clarke: “I’m particularly happy for his performance because he answered in a game that was very difficult and he didn’t have any personality problem to assume and express his skills.”

Pushing for promotion

Although Leeds scored a late goal to pick up a point from the encounter against Brentford, the Whites will be disappointed that they could not manage to win.

The West Yorkshire outfit are only two points behind leaders Sheffield United, and they can certainly finish in the automatic promotion places.

Leeds will take on Blackburn Rovers away from home at Ewood Park in the Championship after the international break.
