Leeds United have suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Leicester City at Elland Road in the Premier League this evening.

The Whites headed into the game against the Foxes on the back of a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa away from home at Villa Park in the league.

The West Yorkshire club were high in confidence and will have been looking to pick up all three points, but they slumped to a 4-1 loss.

Harvey Barnes put Brendan Rodgers’s side in the lead after just two minutes, and Youri Tielemans doubled the advantage on 21 minutes.

Stuart Dallas halved the deficit for Leeds in the opening minutes of the second half, but Jamie Vardy restored Leicester’s two-goal advantage on 76 minutes before Tielemans made it 4-1 from the penalty spot in injury time.

Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and he has given his take on the final result.

Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds at full time (9:54pm, November 2, 2020): “I give them credit. There was a bit more fight and a bit more quality in the second half, but again, there were things letting us down. The tackle by Klich, penalty, all these goals probably bar the third one were defendable. We actually gifted them goals.”

Former Leeds midfielder Andy Couzens has given his reaction on Twitter to the defeat for the Whites.

The result means that Leeds are now 12th in the Premier League table with 10 points from matches.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side will return to action on Saturday when they take on Crystal Palace away from home at Selhurst Park in London in the Premier League.
