Arsenal fans aren’t happy that Brighton are seemingly playing hardball for Ben White’s signature.
For over a week, rumours have been surfacing about Arsenal ramping up their interest for White.
It was reported earlier this week that those in the North London boardroom were confident of signing the 23-year-old.
But there seems to be a twist in the Arsenal transfer tale, with Brighton rejecting the club’s latest offer of £42 million + £3 million add-ons for the player.
It seems as though the Gunners will have to pay over £50 million for his talents and the supporters aren’t liking what they are hearing.
White is currently on international duty with England at Euro 2020, so any potential deal getting fast-tracked won’t happen until the Euros are over.
But if they do want to land the ball-playing centre-back then they have to put some serious dough on the table for his services.
On one hand, White walks straight into Arsenal’s backline and also elevates their qualities if Mikel Arteta wishes to play a back three.
Plus, he has also proven for England, for Leeds and at Brighton that he can also be deployed in the middle of the park.
But he hasn’t played in Europe and he isn’t a regular for his country, so it would be understandable if some Arsenal fans would now be reluctant to pay the fee mentioned.
Either way, it does look like this transfer saga might drag on for a few weeks, as the knockout stages of Euro 2020 kick in.
