Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal can challenge for the Premier League title next season.

Manchester City are on the verge of winning the title this season, and there is a very good chance that Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham will not even finish in the top four.

The Reds won the league title last season with ease, but long-term injuries to the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have adversely affected them.

Liverpool manager Klopp believes that it will not be easy for his side to win the title next season, and has suggested that Arsenal and Tottenham could challenge for the championship.

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website: “Nobody should write off Tottenham, nobody should write off Arsenal, obviously West Ham is now flying and all these kind of things. So, how can it be easier?”

Bold claim

Liverpool have a strong squad. Injuries and disappointing performances have badly affected them, but the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Alisson and Van Dijk are world-class footballers.

Arsenal and Tottenham do not have the quality of squad that City and Liverpool have, and it would be an uphill struggle for the two North London clubs to challenge for the Premier League title.

Perhaps Spurs could give it a go if they are able to keep all of their best players and bring in a quality permanent manager, but it is hard to see the Gunners do the same, especially if they are unable to win the Europa League this season and get into the Champions League for the 2021-22 campaign.

City and Liverpool have players who are at their prime, while some of Arsenal’s best players, such as Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, are very young and are just starting their careers.
