Speaking on the Under the Cosh Podcast, Kieran Trippier has been discussing what it’s like to work under Diego Simeone after a spell alongside the Argentine at Atletico Madrid.

Simeone is one of the most highly-decorated and highly-paid managers in world football, and if reports are to be believed, he could be headed to the Premier League.

Indeed, Italian outlet CalcioMercatoWeb have noted that Simeone is one manager Spurs have an eye on as they look towards potential replacements for Antonio Conte as his contract is up at the end of the season.

Former Spurs man, Trippier, has worked closely with Simeone and he’s had nothing but good things to say about the Atletico Madrid manager.

Trippier lauds Simeone

The Newcastle star spoke very highly of his former boss.

“He just looks like someone who get you motivated before a game and that. He’s the most manager I’ve ever played for 100 per cent. Nobody comes close. He’s that passionate the way he runs La Liga and the club itself. You know he’s the boss,” Trippier said.

Perfect Conte replacement

If you’re looking for a like-for-like replacement for Antonio Conte as Tottenham manager then one of the main attributes you want is passion.

The Italian is one of the most animated gaffers you’re likely to ever see in world football, but he’s topped by Simeone.

The Argentine loves nothing more than getting the crowd going and geeing up his squad to get them playing at their best.

His passion is, of course, matched by his tactical acumen and that is why his Atletico Madrid side have been one of the defining teams of the past decade.

Simeone could be brilliant for the Premier League and for Tottenham if he is brought in over the summer.
