Arturo Vidal has labelled James Rodriguez as an ‘amazing player’ on Instagram after he left Everton.
The 30-year-old posted on his Instagram his thanks to Everton and how he is looking forward to the new chapter in his football career.
The former Bayern and Real Madrid star has signed up for Qatari side Al Rayyan.
When he posted on Instagram about his move, Inter Milan midfielder, Vidal, sent the following message to his former teammate:
“Good luck brother,” said Vidal. “You are an amazing player. Nobody can change it, bro. Enjoy it as you know.”
Rodriguez leaves Merseyside without really making a dent or his mark on the club.
And given that football was played behind closed doors last season, he didn’t even get a taste of the Goodison Park crowd and atmosphere.
In truth, for a number of years now, Rodriguez’s career has been on a downward spiral.
Under Carlo Ancelotti, there was always the hope that he could muster something special in the Premier League.
But as soon as Rafa Benitez walked through the doors, then it was obvious that the writing was on the wall for the quick-thinking playmaker.
Plus, it says a lot that Rodriguez was available for transfer in the summer, yet no other European clubs came knocking for his talents.
He only turned 30 in July, this should still be the best years of his footballing career, yet he is going to spend it in a lesser-known league in Qatar.
That in itself says a lot.
