West Ham United captain Mark Noble has rallied the troops on Twitter by stating that the Hammers must hit the ground running in 2018 with three points against West Bromwich Albion.

David Moyes’ side have slipped back into the Premier League relegation zone after Crystal Palace secured an unlikely point against Manchester City on New Year’s Eve.

However, the east Londoners have a game in hand in the form of Tuesday night’s clash against former manager Alan Pardew in what is a vital game at this stage of the season, with the Baggies in 19th place.

Noble, 30, posted a message to fans by stating his side “need to start the new year with a bang” by earning all three points in front of their home fans at the London Stadium and climbing into a much safer 15th place in the Premier League table.

Noble himself is a doubt for the match due to a hamstring injury that saw him replaced in the first half against Stoke City last time out. Michail Antonio remains sidelined, as well as Sam Byram, Jose Fonte and Edimilson Fernandes.

West Ham fans reacted to Noble’s tweet, with many urging their skipper to drive the Hammers side forward and away from the drop zone. One fan described the clash as a “banana skin”.
