West Ham United are currently in the bottom three with just one win to their name.
Quoted by the Telegraph, West Ham United captain Mark Noble has accused the club of getting carried away with talk of the Champions League.
Big things were expected of the Hammers this season after an impressive first year under Slaven Bilic last time out.
Instead, the beginning of the season has been a disastrous one for them as they have picked up just one win in their first six games.
Sunday afternoon saw their poor form continue as they were beaten 3-0 by Southampton at the London Stadium.
It was West Ham’s fourth straight defeat and left them sitting in the bottom three of the Premier League table.
It is a far cry from where the fans, and indeed the staff within the club, expected to be at this stage and Noble has admitted they may have got carried away.
“Everyone was buzzing off the back of last season and obviously like this club does all the time, gets carried away and starts talking about Champions League,” the Telegraph reports him saying.
It remains to be seen if West Ham can bounce back from this poor start to the season.
At this moment in time it looks unlikely, with their squad decimated by injuries and their star men from last season, such as Dimitri Payet, out of form.
Indeed, it is fair to say the Hammers are looking more likely to be in a relegation battle than fighting for Champions League football if their early season form is anything to go by.
