Newcastle currently sit in the relegation zone after seven games.

Nobby Solano has told the Evening Chronicle that he believes Newcastle United can earn a 0-0 draw against Manchester United, if Rafa Benitez gets his tactics right.

The Toon face Jose Mourinho’s United in Saturday’s evening kick-off at St. James’ Park as they look to end a dismal run of results that leave Benitez’s side in 18th place in the Premier League – with two points from a possible 21.

Newcastle have had a tough start in terms of fixtures, already facing Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham, which saw them lose 2-1 in all four fixtures. But they have also lost to Leicester, while drawing with Cardiff and Crystal Palace.

Solano believes Newcastle could nab a point or even win the game if Benitez gets his tactics right, placing plenty of importance on The Toon utilising the counter attack.

“It will be easy to see how it’s going to after half an hour and if Newcastle sit deep then we could be looking at a 0-0 draw,” Solano said. “If Newcastle can show quality on the counter-attack they could even nick it.

“At the moment they don’t have the quality going forward. Rafa will set the tone in this one I think.”

In the same fixture last season, Newcastle earned a 1-0 win over Manchester United thanks to a Matt Ritchie goal – but they had new signing Martin Dubravka to thank for a stunning display on his debut.

They will be counting on the Slovakian goalkeeper to do the same come Saturday evening, in a bid to keep the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba at bay.
