Early days, but Liverpool have their biggest game of the season tonight.
Liverpool welcome in-form Chelsea to Anfield later today in what could be a fascinating clash.
Both sides have won their opening two Premier League games, but something has to give on Merseyside.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has a bit of a dilemma regarding Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.
The Scottish left-back hasn’t played a competitive game for Liverpool yet this season after picking up an injury in a friendly earlier this month.
But Tsimikas has been mightily impressive as a covering option, with the Greek defender showing why Klopp and Michael Edwards signed him from Olympiacos last summer.
However, Robertson is now fit again and Leroy Rosenior believes that the German manager will drop Tsimikas for the former Hull City left-back.
He told Optus Sport: “I would put Robertson straight back in. I know Tsimikas has done really well. I really like him. I like Tsimikas. But Robertson’s fit. He’s a big-game player, their best left-back. I’d have no worries about putting him back in.”
Is Robertson going to start?
In a word, probably.
As good as Tsimikas has been, he is unproven in a game of this magnitude.
Impressing against Norwich City and Burnley is one thing, but Chelsea won a Champions League title a few months ago.
It’s an entirely different proposition for the Liverpool defender and therefore it’s very possible – and probable – that Klopp will recall Robertson immediately.
He is a much better and more assured defender and no doubt the Reds need him.
