Liverpool supporters have taken to Twitter to react over an ‘absolutely ridiculous’ development regarding Mohamed Salah.

Fresh from coming seventh in the Ballon d’Or stakes, the Liverpool attacker has had some disrespect put on his name once again.

On Tuesday, a 23-man shortlist for FIFA’s FIFPRO XI was announced – and unbelievably, the 29-year-old failed to make cut.

For context, Salah has netted 21 times in 22 outings across all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season.

Last term, he bagged 31 goals in 51 matches.

And suffice to say that Liverpool supporters on Twitter are fuming that their player has again swerved the respect that he deserves.

Duo included

Liverpool did have some representation on the list, though.

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker and defender Trent Alexander-Arnold were both included in the shortlist of names.

It’s a tad confusing for those two to make it and Salah not, but really, it boils down to position.

There’s no question that Salah is a bigger player for Liverpool than either of those, but the former Roma and Chelsea attacker has much greater competition for his chosen role than Alisson or Alexander-Arnold.

However, it’s still a touch farcical but you cannot really blame FIFA becauase Sky Sports noted that for this award, the players vote.

Edouard Mendy [Chelsea], Ruben Dias [Manchester City], Kevin De Bruyne [Manchester City], Jorginho [Chelsea], N’Golo Kante [Chelsea], Cristiano Ronaldo [Juventus/Manchester United] and Romelu Lukaku [Inter Milan/Chelsea] are other Premier League players to make the shortlist.

Interestingly, Salah is undeniably on par with any of those attackers stars in terms of relative importance for their respective clubs.

To be named the seventh best-footballer in the world is slightly a joke in itself, but failing to make this list takes it to a new level entiriely, but all Salah can do is continue scoring and no doubt he’ll do that in spades.
