Wolves boss Nuno has insisted that he is not surprised by how well Diogo Jota has performed at Liverpool, as per his comments to Stadium Astro.

Liverpool signed Jota from Wolves in the summer for a fee of around £45 million (Telegraph), and the Portuguese forward has wasted no time in proving his worth at Anfield.

Jota has hit nine goals in his first 17 Liverpool appearances, and already seems to have forced his way into their attacking line-up.

The impact that the 24-year-old has made so suddenly has shocked many observers.

But Nuno insists that he was always expecting Jota to be a success at Anfield.

“No, not surprised at all,” he said, when asked if Jota’s form had surprised him.

“The quality and the talent and the dedication that Diogo has is amazing.

“I’m pleased he’s having an impact on Liverpool. I think he’s in the right place at the right moment of his career, I wish him all the best.”

Wolves may feel that they have missed Jota, with Raul Jimenez sidelined, but they have sourced some strong alternative options.

The likes of Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence look like great replacements for the future.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have become an even stronger attacking unit because of Jota’s arrival.

The rapid attacker has made them an even bigger attacking threat, and they will hope that he is back from injury sooner rather than later to help out again.
