Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after Everton announced the signing of Salomon Rondon on transfer deadline day yesterday.
What’s the story?
Well, the Toffees made a late swoop right before the deadline to reunite Rondon with Rafa Benitez.
The 31-year-old has joined Everton on a free transfer, signing a two-year contract with the option of a third.
Interestingly, it was Benitez who signed Rondon for Dalian Yifang, where he was earning £250,000-a-week.
Now, it’s Dalian Yifang he has left on a free transfer, in order to link up with the Spaniard once again.
Of course, the pair initially worked together at Newcastle, and to great effect as Rondon scored 26 goals in 61 games under Benitez.
Given the cheap nature of this deal, a lot of Newcastle fans are understandably asking why they didn’t get involved with this transfer.
Why didn’t Newcastle rival Everton?

In our view, it baffles us that Newcastle didn’t seriously rival Everton for Rondon’s signature.
Steve Bruce would find himself in a bit of trouble if Callum Wilson picked up an injury, with only Joelinton and Dwight Gayle able to cover.
In that respect, Rondon would’ve been a great addition to add depth.
A free transfer seems right up Mike Ashley’s street, so we’re not sure how that didn’t catch his attention.

Clearly, it wasn’t entirely about funds, as the bargain deals were there to be done for the Magpies, although they were sadly ignored.
Rondon knows Tyneside well having spent two seasons at St James’ Park, and surely would’ve had no problems settling in.
You can understand why the Magpies supporters are so annoyed after seeing Everton sign the former St James’ Park favourite.
Let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying…
