Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter after the Daily Mail revealed that Roberto Firmino, Fabinho and Alisson could refuse to play at the Copa America.

What’s the story?

Well, the report claims that members of the Brazil side are refusing to partake in the upcoming tournament, due to rising COVID-19 cases.

Real Madrid’s Casemiro – captain of Brazil – did not report for a press conference in protest at the Copa America going ahead.

Argentina were due to host the competition, but they were dropped due to the spread of COVID-19 cases.

In that respect, it is strange that Brazil also haven’t been dropped.

The country has recorded 470,000 deaths related to COVID-19 during the ongoing pandemic.

The Daily Mail state that health experts are expecting a third wave, hence why Brazil’s players are sceptical about participating in the Copa America.

Good news for Liverpool if Alisson, Firmino and Fabinho stay at home

After a gruelling season, in which the games came thick and fast, it would be great if the Liverpool trio could have a rest this summer.

Liverpool suffered an incredible amount of injuries over the course of the campaign, and Jürgen Klopp will be praying the same doesn’t happen next term.

If his South American trio don’t play in the Copa America, they’re more likely to avoid injury, and can spend the summer recharging their batteries.

Health wise, it also isn’t worth the risk.

If they do play in the tournament, and one of them contracts COVID-19, then there should be outrage about why the competition went ahead.

Let’s see how the Liverpool fans on Twitter reacted to the rumour…
