Gary Lineker and Leeds United fans on Twitter were left shocked after North Macedonia beat Germany in a World Cup qualifier on Wednesday evening.
Not long after Germany’s official Twitter account taunted Leeds star, Ezgjan Alioski, they got a taste of their own medicine by suffering a defeat.
This is what BBC host, Lineker, had to say on the result, as posted on his official Twitter account.
Leeds fans were, of course, delighted for their player, who bounced back after conceding a penalty early during the second period.
Stalwart and former Champions League winner, Goran Pandev, opened the scoring for North Macedonia on the stroke of half-time, before Manchester City’s goal-scoring machine, Ilkay Gundogan, found the back of the net once again.
But five minutes from time, it was Alioski and his teammates who were jumping with joy.
They are the first team to beat the German’s in a World Cup qualifier since 2001… against none other than England, and we all know what happened on that evening!
Nonetheless, Leeds supporters were delighted for their player and how his magic on the left flank inspired his country to one of the shock results:
