Chelsea fans have reacted on Twitter to Arsenal’s official Twitter account retweeting a post claiming that they were ‘robbed of a clear goal’ during their pre-season defeat on Sunday.
As the new Premier League season draws to a close, Arsenal suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat against their London rivals at the Emirates Stadium.
The away side had actually taken the lead in the first half, before the returning Granit Xhaka equalised during the second period, only for Hector Bellerin’s error allowing Tammy Abraham to score the winner.
But Arsenal felt that Joe Willock should have been awarded a goal after the ball crossed the line, but the technology was turned off.
When the game finished, Arsenal’s official Twitter account then retweeted the following message from the club’s presenter, Adrian Clarke.
It sparked a reaction from supporters who pointed out that it was a friendly game after all.
Given that it’s two London rivals clashing with one another, there is sure to be that extra spark on the pitch.
But, at the end of the day, the real thing kicks off in a few weeks time and Arsenal would no doubt take a defeat here if they can be guaranteed the points in the Premier League.
It’s perhaps understandable for supporters to express their frustration, but not the club’s official account.
Here is a selection of Chelsea fans reacting to Arsenal RT’ing a post about Willock’s disallowed goal.
