In a memorable Boxing Day encounter for those in North London, a previously timid and goal-shy Arsenal put three past their rivals.
With Gabriel having to self-isolate, Holding was Arsenal’s senior man at the back, alongside the returning Pablo Mari, and it’s fair to say the former impressed.
Arsenal fans couldn’t quite believe that Holding put in such a strong display and how the previously criticised defender pocketed Timo Werner on the night.
Frank Lampard substituted his struggling £45 million hitman at half-time (Sky Sports), which says a lot about how he performed at the Emirates and how he was dealt with by Holding.
From defence to attack, Mikel Arteta’s men were forward-thinking, calm in defence, winning their duels and looking like the side the fans have been crying out for to see for weeks now.
Well, whilst deserved critisim has come their way in recent weeks, they were more than happy to change their tune and laud players like Holding for such top-quality performances.
