Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter in disbelief after hearing a ‘disgusting’ statistic involving Newcastle.

After Newcastle’s 4-3 defeat to Manchester City last night, the Magpies have now scored more goals at home than Arsenal this season.

That’s right. Newcastle, who have been floating above the relegation zone for most of this season, have outscored Arsenal at home.

Steve Bruce’s side have netted 25 Premier League goals at St James’ Park this term.

In Arsenal’s case, Mikel Arteta’s men have only been able to score 22 Premier League goals at the Emirates Stadium this season.

Now, that is pretty embarrassing for Arsenal.

No disrespect to Newcastle, but the Gunners have forwards such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette.

In Newcastle’s case, the Magpies have Dwight Gayle, Andy Carroll, Joelinton and Callum Wilson.

Their strike forces simply don’t compare, on paper at least.

Bruce’s side have also played some of the least entertaining football you’ll see from any Premier League outfit this term.

As WhoScored shows, they rank 16th for shots per game in England’s top-flight this season with just 10.3 efforts every 90 minutes.

They also rank 19th in the possession charts, averaging just 41.3% of the ball this season.

If one thing sums up Arsenal’s season, it’s this.

With the attacking talent at Arteta’s disposal, the north Londoners really should be scoring a lot more goals.

This simply has to change next season, or the Gunners can expect another campaign full of mediocrity.

Let’s see how the Arsenal fans on Twitter reacted after hearing this concerning statistic…
