Liverpool defender Joe Gomez is reportedly a target for Real Madrid, with the La Liga giants monitoring the 24-year-old centre-back.
According to BBC Sport, the England international is being tracked by the Spanish side. Gomez has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield this season, with Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konte preferred to partner Virgil van Dijk in the defence.
Chances have been hard to come by for the defender, who joined Liverpool in 2015 after being signed by Brendan Rodgers. And after six seasons, Gomez could well be on his way to Madrid.
Los Blancos have been exceptional this season in the league. However, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are lacking in numbers in central defence, with the club losing both Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane in the summer.
Indeed, the defender has made just ten appearances in all competitions for Liverpool and has played under 450 minutes for the Reds. Meaning that a switch to Madrid could well be on the cards for Gomez.
The England international will likely feature more for the Spanish giants than he would if he stays for Liverpool, and supporters on social media are stunned that Madrid are keen on signing Gomez.
