Tim Sherwood told the Kelly and Wrighty Show that Jose Mourinho will get sacked by Tottenham if he doesn’t finish in the top four this season.
Following Sherwood’s claim, Ian Wright told the former Tottenham boss that there is ‘no way’ that Mourinho will be given the chop if he doesn’t achieve Champions League football.
Aside from this past week and the opening day of the Premier League campaign, it has been a very promising start for those at Spurs.
And whilst a title challenge is being talked about, Sherwood thinks that the battle for the final Champions League place will be a ‘straight fight’ between Spurs and Chelsea.
“I think it’s a straight fight between Jose Mourinho and Frank Lampard [for the final top four spot],” said Sherwood. “And whoever finishes outside the top four loses their job probably.”
Wright then responded: “No way does Jose lose his job at Tottenham!”
Sherwood added: “If he doesn’t finish in the top four then he hasn’t done what they brought him in to achieve.”

Given the way Spurs have started the season, they will be pretty annoyed if Champions League football isn’t achieved at the end of it.
In truth, they should get over that line because of their goalscoring threat, Mourinho in the background and improvements they have made at the back.
But these behind-the-closed doors matches have thrown some funny results and made that Premier League table that much tighter, so anything can happen just yet.
