Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are dreaming about the prospect of signing Manuel Locatelli after his performance in Euro 2020 on Wednesday night.
The 23-year-old scored twice in helping Italy to a 3-0 win over Turkey.
Gazzetta Dello Sport reported this week that Arsenal were weighing up a £34 million bid for the Sassuolo midfielder.
And although some Gunners fans are gushing over his latest performance on Twitter, others feel that Locatelli – who also clocked a passing percentage of 90.2 – is now too high profile for Mikel Arteta and Edu to get.
Forget him
Arsenal fans are a pessimistic bunch at times but, on this occasion, they’re right.
Locatelli’s star is rising at an alarming rate and considering Arteta and Edu don’t even have European football to offer the Italian maestro next season, it’s difficult to see them winning the race.
The more shine Locatelli gets, the bigger club he’s going to attract after dazzling on a stage like this.
Arsenal would be wise to simply focus on getting Yves Bissouma over the line as soon as possible. His star – or value – isn’t going to rise dramatically over the coming weeks and more importantly, he reportedly wants to join [Football London].
The Locatelli dream was fun but the better he plays, the more likely that it was only a dream in the first place.
