Some Arsenal fans on social media have been a bit taken aback after Mat Ryan dubbed himself and Bernd Leno as world-class goalkeepers.
Now, don’t get us wrong, Leno and Ryan are two very talented stoppers. After all, they’re fully-fledged international footballers, but the phrase ‘world-class’ should be reserved for the truly elite.
Ryan was speaking to Optus Sport when he dubbed himself and his teammate as world-class, and while the self-confidence is admirable, we can understand why Arsenal fans were a bit shocked by these comments.
When you think of world-class goalkeepers you think of the likes of Manuel Neuer, Alisson or Ederson, not Leno and Ryan, with all due respect.
Of course, Leno and Ryan could go on to prove themselves to be world-class in the coming years, leaving all of these Arsenal supporters with egg on their faces, but as of right now, we can understand why Gunners supporters can’t get on board with the Australian’s view.
