Ian Wright has slammed Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans in a post-match analysis of the Foxes’ 2-1 loss to AFC Bournemouth, with Arsenal reportedly interested in signing the Belgian.

Speaking on Match of the Day, the Gunners’ legend was full of criticism for Leicester over the conduct and lack of energy in their loss against Bournemouth, with Wright pointing out in his analysis that Tielemans wasted the time he had to stop a goalscoring opportunity.

Leicester looked to have turned a new leaf in the Premier League after thumping West Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest 4-0 on Monday night. However, the Foxes are seemingly now back to square-one after throwing away a 1-0 lead to Bournemouth to lose 2-1 on the south coast to the Cherries.

Brendan Rodgers side now sit 19th in the standings with hope all but gone from supporters over a good season, with Arsenal target Tielemans yet to really turn up this campaign despite being linked with a move to the Gunners for practically the entire summer as reported by CBS Sports.

With a price tag this January of just £20m according to 90min, Tielemans could well leave Leicester at a bargain price in the new year. Yet according to Arsenal legend Wright, the midfielder was far from his best against Bournemouth this weekend in what could be a crucial loss for the Foxes.

Wright said: “Once the ball goes into the box, Ryan Christie’s unchecked. When it comes out to Billing, look how long it’s taking Tielemans to get to him. So much time. They need to sort something out, I don’t know what’s going on with them. There’s no challenges, no one’s picking up. No urgency. You really feel that bad things are happening at Leicester at the moment.”

Leicester face a real risk of relegation from the Premier League after their latest disasterclass in the top-flight, and Wright is correct to call out Tieleman for his lack of awareness in dangerous positions for the Foxes, which could win the midfielder zero suitors in January.

After all, the 25-year-old looks desperate to leave the King Power Stadium, and whilst there could be interest in Tielemans despite his poor performances this season, containing to play badly for Leicester will do little to convince the likes of Arsenal to once again go in for the Belgian itnernational.
