Liverpool fans have been left disappointed after Jurgen Klopp’s comments about transfers at his latest press conference, which was covered by the Liverpool Echo.
Klopp’s side have been linked with a number of players heading into the summer transfer window, but the Liverpool boss has consistently played down the possibility of new additions.
It was claimed in BILD that Liverpool were close to bringing in Thiago Alcantara.
But Klopp’s latest comments suggest that Liverpool will be having a very quiet window.
“I am happy with my squad 100%,” he said.
“I was last year when people wanted us to sign him and him. It’s not that we don’t want, we try to make the right decisions. Situation changed and not for the better.”
And Liverpool fans could not hide their disappointment, as Klopp seemingly confirmed that his side may not be particularly active this summer.
Liverpool have dominated the Premier League this term, so their need for new signings is hardly urgent.
However, there is a fear that the gap could be closed, if they stand still whilst their main rivals strengthen.
Thiago could have increased the creativity available to Klopp if he had joined, with the Spaniard wonderfully gifted in possession, but it seems that the German boss may have to make do with his current options.
That could put pressure on youngster Curtis Jones, who is expected to be given his breakthrough season at Anfield next term.
