Liverpool are reportedly keen on Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
Liverpool are heading towards the January transfer window after losing just two Premier League games this season – and Jurgen Klopp could yet add more talent to his squad.
The Reds have seen summer signing Mohamed Salah excel this season, and despite also having Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane among his attacking options, Liverpool are eyeing another attacker.
The Independent report that Liverpool want to bring in Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, in a deal which could cost a club-record fee of around £90million.
Lemar, 22, has impressed for Monaco since his 2015 move from Caen, exploding onto the scene last season with 14 goals in all competitions as Leonardo Jardim’s side won Ligue 1 and starred in the Champions League.
This term, Lemar has notched two goals and four assists in 13 Ligue 1 games, and after snubbing a move to Arsenal in August, Liverpool appear keen to finally lure him to England in 2018.
The Guadeloupe-born wide man has recorded two goals in eight caps for France, and could provide Klopp with yet another potent attacking weapon – whether Coutinho leaves or not.
Lemar may be an exciting player, but Liverpool fans are a little split on the reports, as they feel that the money would be better spent on a defender, such as summer target Virgil van Dijk.
Most fans rate Lemar as a talent, but just see greater needs in the Liverpool side rather than splashing nearly £100m on yet another attacker, suggesting the club is a joke if they go through with signing Lemar before a centre back.
